We decided Williams doesn't fit with the direction this team was going, and playing on the 3rd line didn't exactly make himself useful to us. Downie is an RFA and is having himself a nice season. Erixon is a guy that is a huge bum, but he is a pretty decent hockey player. With 13 points in 10 games in the AHL as a d-man, its hard not to like his potential.

Williams is good sim value, esp with cap for next season. Like the return for Van though...little now and a little later.

Sharks were looking to upgrade their wing, they got that with Williams. I've never tried to trade two people that were both hated and loved at the same time, it made for interesting talks :P

Erixon is great, but with Ouellet, Sproul and Murphy knocking on the AHL/NHL doors we can afford to lose one. The 2.5 cheese takes Williams' salary down to his grid hit for next year which was all we wanted. Fast and easy talks with Mitch, I came at him with an offer he came back at me with a reasonable counter and it was done. Thanks again for the very pleasent talks.
