Downie to Flyers for Talbot
@adater I'm five minutes from boarding flight to Dallas, but Avs just traded Steve Downie for Max Talbot.

At first glance I don't like this trade for Colorado
EDIT: Colorado must be receiving something back in addition to Talbot

This makes no sense for Colorado.
The line of Downie-Duchene-O'Reilly was playing really good.

Bad trade for Colorado if it's straight up.

There's gotta be something else.
However, who cares? Trades are fun!

Has to be an off ice thing for Downie.
Had chemistry in Colorado and was playing good on his line.
Like this trade for Philly though, they needed a top 9 winger and Downie brings that and an edge to his game.

That seems like a bad move for Colorado.

Strange deal unless there is more to it. They already have Cs playing the W, why trade a winger for another C?
I could remotely see this making sense if they ended up trading Ryan O'Reilly and Statsny, but that's about it.

again? I'm aware of his on ice history of dirty plays ... but don't recall him getting into any trouble away from the rink.

Talbot is a veteran winner.
Never a bad idea to add a guy like that into the mix with a bunch of young talent.

There was the whole junior thing with Akim Aliu.. although I suppose that was on the ice.
But does this mean we can stop parroting Don Cherry's comment about Downie's line being the best in hockey.

I would consider a hazing incident an off ice issue.

Seems like a very strange move for a Colorado team that is doing so well with downie on the top line. Must be more to it.

It wasn't just on the ice... Downie is an insufferable dbag.
