Buying a new cell phone

I'm hoping to someday soon purchase a new cell phone. I want a fancy one.

My current cell phone only transmogrifies morse code and is the size of a shoebox.
I don't have a digital camera.
I don't have an IPOD.

So ideally my new cell phone would essentially solve all those problems. It would have a pretty good camera, store and play lots of MP3's, and make people think I am from the future.

Does anyone know of such a device?

I wanted that phone from the begining.. but it is only avail through rogers, and me being dumb, has a contract with telus..

As far as new phones go... if you can, wait a few months. The next round of phones will have upgraded photo and music technology.

Come over to asia, pick one up, get it modded and use it.
(plane tickets are only a grand or so, plus you can sight see..)
I'll never forget the display window I saw in Hong Kong that had like 80-100 different models of cell phones...
Problem is, a digital camera will be better for pictures than a phone, an actual mp3 player will be better for mp3's, etc.
You could look for the Nokia N91, it has a 4Gb HD in it.. of course I'm quite sure it's not available in NA..

Research what you want, then get it off Ebay. I saved hundreds getting my phone off of ebay (it was slightly used, total of 5 hours, mint condition). Been using it for almost 2 years now and it's still a very good phone.

True, but that typically works only for Fido (GSM). I've found it pretty rare to find a Telus / Bell (CDMA) phone that isn't a complete piece of crap (ie used and obsolete) on fleaBay.

I googled the Nokia N91 and that thing looks sick. Maybe that's the one I will get when it comes out, although it will cost and arm and perhaps a leg.

The LG 535 has MP3 and a camera, but video phonese will be out soon. We have the technology, but they're waiting to release it until it streams better....

Get an unlocked phone off ebay. If it's unlocked you can use it with any sim card network, which in Canada is either Rogers or Fido (now owned by Rogers). When I was in England about a month ago the nicest phones available were the Moto Razer and the Samsung D500. Highly recommend the Samsung. By far the coolest phone I have ever seen.
Most importantly, stay away from Telus and long term contracts if you can.

Too bad they have shinguardty phones. If you want a good phone, it has to be GSM.

Good phone with below average reception in Calgary.

Moto V710 with Telus can play Mp3 and a ok camera phone, for what you should be using the camera for.

More importantly, the reception on the phone is superb, like all Motos with Telus.

I had a Moto with Rogers for about 2 months last year...lost calls in Fish Creek Park, and ran into more then several dead spots.

The Razor is not as good as everyone thinks, it has limited phone memory and then recent calls, missed calls etc. only stores the last 15 calls so I got rid of the thing and go without a cell phone now since the plan was costing me too much anyways. The only handy thing about it was that it was light and slim, it was also durable I dropped the damn thing like 50 times and there was only mild scratches, the camera resolution isn't so good either, Nokia phones (not the chameleon though) have pretty good picture and they have larger storage. The Razor also doesn't take video either.
