Started a series thread last time and we swept, so here goes another. Downs Vs Park tonight. The Jays could really use a big outing out of Downs tonight especially with how beat the bullpen must be and with Mgowan going tommorow with first start.

jays have to win this series to keep pace....texas has the best bats in the AL.....all downs has to do is keep the ball in the park..

if the yanks continue to rely on pitching from shawn chacon and hideo nomo we may be in good shape

*barf* Not a bad start by Downs. Probably the best we could have hoped for, but we couldn't touch Wasdin. Jays were clearly worn down.

League comes in and pitches 1.2 Innings, gets a run and shows why hes one of the organizations top prospects. If any of you watched the first Inning he pitched... Amazing movement, dirty slider. Dominating.

Not a good sign when you can't hit a pitcher like Wasdin.

Maybe it is just the fact that they have played so many innings lately but this is not the time that you need guys getting tired and slow bats.

Dustin McGowan starts today. 1st round pick in 2000, has TJ surgery and its only 14 months after it. Hes made a bunch of starts in AA, A already this season, and was the top pitching prospect before his Injury in the Jays system.

Hes only pitched 56 Minor league Innings post TJ surgery, but by all reports he is looking smooth, hence the call up.

In AA he had a 3.34 ERA with 33 strikeouts, 10 walks in 35 IPs. One of those pitchers who has managed more than 1 K per IP, which is an exceptional rate in his minor league career.

Because of the Injury, most people thought Opening day next season, but we'll have to see. He was pretty close to being ML ready before his injury.

No clutch hitting today did us in. Even so, the Jays got screwed as the Rangers winning run was actually tagged out by Zaun.

And I swear that if I see that stupid Nike commercial interviewing the eight year old "Tiger" one more time I am going to go burn down Nike's headquarters.

It was cute once, it sucked the second time and has now gone way past annoying.

Jays up 5-1 with one out in the 9th. Chacin goes 6 1/3 without surrendering an earned run, putting himself to be inline for an 11-5 record. Who would have thought at the start of the season that a guy like Chacin would have a winning percentage around 70%? Give him credit for giving the Jays some good outings while Halladay's been on the DL.

great win, clutch HR by Wells and another great performance by Chacin. Why would we even think of trading this guy? And looks like Halladay is pencilled in for the start next Sunday vs the Yanks. We still have a shot here!
