The mystery surrounding the Loch Ness Monster has been solved!
Chances are the residents of Loch Ness were seeing an Oarfish, similar to the one found in California.
Quote:
The rarely seen deep sea-dwelling creatures, which can grow to more than 50 feet (15 metres), may be the inspiration of sea monsters found in literature and throughout history. Photos of the oarfish have circulated widely online, spurring general interest in the mysterious creature but contributing little to scientists' knowledge of the fish.
Was pretty sure that one of the guys who took the original picture (there were originally three or four) admitted on his deathbed it was all a hoax. They decided to take it to their graves after the whole thing got blown up far beyond what they thought would happen.
Though of course, like the Ogopogo or other 'monsters' there's often local legends that go back pretty far. Not that that validates the story of course, people get more and more superstitious the further back you look We didn't know how the world worked, didn't know what was out there. I just mean that one could probably take a fake photograph of whatever they wanted, and tie it back to some legend to give it more believability or relevance.
Like how people use ancient myths and paintings to 'prove' validity of UFO theories.
