Default October 14, three games.

Today is a holiday in both Canada and the USA and that is why one of the games is a matinee.

at

Game is on NHL Network Canada
This Original Six matchup began at 1100h and is tied 1-1 after one period. It is the second time this season these conference rivals have played each other. The surprise in this game is that Gustavsson is in net for the Red Wings because Howard has an injured hand. http://www.nhl.com/ice/blogpost.htm?id=21398&navid=nhl:topheads

Best game of the day is the Red Wings-Bruins.

Go Caps please. I really want to see a desperation trade from the Oilers that hinders them even more.

Detroit scores two goals in the second period and have a 3-1 lead heading into the third period.

Wings scored an incredible goal for the first one of the game today. Datsyuk with the neutral zone turnover, breaks Chara's ankles with a deke, softly lays it up for Zetterberg.

Detroit killed off a 5-3 power play. Gustavsson was key on the penalty kill.

Doesn't help that Boston had roughly 10 shots and 3 hit the net.

True, the Bruins were firing at random.

On the PP, Bruins very guilty of forcing plays that weren't there.

Great road game by the Wings.

Iginla with his traditional slow start. 1 assist over five games. He had a bunch of shots today, I'll bet he gets into his groove soon.

Lucic scores to make it 3-2 but Detroit hangs on for the victory.

anyone notice the discrepancy between points in the east and western conferences?

There are 75 points in the east, and 91 points in the west. Also, there are 9 OTL in the east, and 6 in the west-> so these definitely aren't padding the stats.

The Western Conference teams are 27-6-3 against the Eastern Conference teams so far this season

Im hoping Miller plays like garbage again and gets traded, thus starting the Enroth era. I love that guy.

edit: Yahoo says Enroth starting tonight so hoping he pulls out a gooder

Not really. I can't stand the Wild and their boringness.

Really there are only 2-3 good teams in the East, and one of those teams came from the West, and is still built to play out West. Which is why I fully expect Detroit to dominate their division, and likely end up facing Pittsburgh in the Eastern finals (if the playoffs still work that way).

I hate the Wild's lack of intensity. I hope they fall in the standings and make some desperation moves. I want them to be a bubble team but I also want the Sabres to do well because of Enroth, if he comes in and does great then I could see them trading Miller soon and getting better because of it.

I know I'll hear it about this but I wouldn't mind Heatley on this team, something like Heatley + Granlund for a decent prospect of ours or Stempniak

^ Heatley is a UFA after this season. They're not stupid enough to trade Granlund to dump Heatley's contract for a mere 70 games.
