Ok, I'll bite.
Red C is on the away jersey.
That COULD be the end, but I'll drive this home.
Other teams with a colour of logo that is different on the ice as compared to the home jersey:
Toronto (blue Leaf, on away jersey)
Tampa (blue bolt, on away jersey)
Vancouver (blue C thing, on away jersey)
All other teams have one logo for both jerseys, but all teams that use two different colour logos use the logo on the away jersey on the home ice.

I've seriously wondered this same exact question.

I would suggest that a giant black C on the ice would make the puck harder to see.

We can have a red C on the jersey when we have a black home jersey.

It's because the black "C" is wrong and an abomination that should never have happened.

Because it's so bright that it burns that part of your eye so all you can see is black.

San Jose is the darkest center ice logo I can think of and I have noticed that it is hard to see the puck on that logo sometimes

not many teams wear 2 different coloured logos either.
And they do have a current jersey with a logo that matches the one on the ice.

I miss the old simpler red, yellow and white colorway - to me those were the flames colors for 20 years and you don't change your team colors based on trends. Felt like they brought in black in the 90s when it was the cool thing to do and it's always looked out of place to me. Just personal opinion anyway, hopefully they go back to the classic colors some day (doesn't look like it will be soon based on that new abortion of a 3rd jersey).
But even then we flipped between white and red Cs.

To be fair, those were the team colours for just under 14 years, and black has been a part of the Flames uniforms for over 19 years.
Nostalgia wise, the red/white/yellow is great, but the black has been a part of the jerseys for the larger part of the entire Flames history. I know you said it was your personal opinion and all, but sometimes I think people forget just how long black has been a part of our colour scheme. When you think of the Devils, do you think they should go back to Red and Green because those were "their colours"? They've only been using black on their jerseys for 2 years longer than we have, mind you.
I guess my point is that I get that people like the old colour scheme, but black is a lasting part of the Flames history. Taking the black from the Flames is like taking the black from the Devils. At this point, it's a bad call.

Red is our team colour, so a red 'C' is our official logo.
Red also being our primary jersey, a white or black 'C' is used for the logo to stand out on our team colour.

I always just thought that it wasn't worth the trouble to change the red C into a black C back when those uniforms came in. I didn't think anyone cared enough to even think about it.

If the ice was red, then we would have a black C?
Not sure that I have lost any sleep over it.

Black C on white ice would look terrible.
The Red C is the official logo, the colour can just change depending on the background colour. In the heritage classic year, the Flames had 4 jerseys, with 4 different logo colours.

Hmmmm.. i have to think about this...really hard..
It is because the Calgary Flames official color is RED and the Flaming C have been RED since they moved from Atlanta.

just noticed the Canucks also do this.
The teams use their official logo on the ice. But their dark uniforms have a variant of the logo due to the colour of the dark jersey being the same as the official logo.

I guess when the team has 3 out of a possible 4 points, I guess you have to complain about something....
