Default Oilers fans

Not sure if this is the right place to post this but just wanted to share my experience attending an Oiler game as a Jets fan for the first time since the team came back to Winnipeg. Cant get over how rude and disrespectful they are....was at the bar in Rexall place getting a drink when a bunch of middle age oiler fans walked up to me and said "since when did you become a fagget" All this for just wearing my Jets jersey. Not to mention having ice thrown at me and large glass cups being thrown at myself and friends. Reason i wanted to post this here was because not once did anyone at the Saddledome treat myself or any of my Jet fans like this... So just curious if this is typical or if i was just in a bad section at Rexall place??

Same thing happened to me and a group I went with, even was surrounded in the washroom by three guys wanting to fight. Harassed all night by two fans behind us asking "Why the eff are there Calgary people here anyway?"

Just pull down their sweat pants and run. They generally trip over their mullets and are easy to elude.

For real though, I've been to 3 or 4 Flames games up here and haven't had any problems. There's dickbags everywhere.

Tsk tsk. Of course, the correct thing to ask you would have been "have you told your mom you're a f* yet?"

Your thread title should be changed to 'people of Edmonton'

I sat in the lower bowl at Rexall once and had little to no problems. I once sat in the upper level and it was just all kinds of trouble. Had things thrown at me and was called everything in the book. Seems the higher you go the IQ level drops significantly.

I have been to 4 games in Edmonton (4-0 flames) and have not really had any issues. All the games I attended they were in their tank build so the fans were pretty down on themselves.

Row=1/IQ It's a commonly used Olierogical science calculation.

I went to a Calgary/Edmonton and sat up high. Didn't wear my flames Jersey to avoid such situation but still got lots thrown at me when Calgary scored and I cheered. Had a 50 year old with a red wino nose challenge me to a fight for calling Peca a joke

This. My wife had a hot dog covered in mustard and ketchup thrown at her in the Saddledome a few years back for simply wearing an opposing team's jersey. She's a church mouse - the last person I know who would incite an altercation.

I, on the other hand, have worn my Oilers jersey to the 'Dome numerous times and not had a single problem. I tend to think problems find people who go looking for them (not saying that's the case with the OP - just in general).

I wish Edmonton fans could have some fun with the rivalry. While Calgary obviously has its annoying fans, there's a real darkness to how seriously people in Edmonton take this.

Walk down 17th Avenue in an Oilers jersey, you're going to take some ribbing—but if you've got any kind of humour about it, you'll probably end up having beers with a bunch of Flames fans. You wear a Flames toque on Whyte avenue, and you encounter genuine malice that can't really be diffused with self-effacing wit.

I hate to reduce that to the "white collar" vs "blue collar" culture of the cities. Maybe you grow up with the "city of champions" as your motto and that becomes internalized in a twisted way. I don't really know what accounts for such different approaches to the rivalry.

And Edmonton and Fort McMurray (and Kanata!) are the only places I ever hear the word ###### anymore. Maybe it's a big truck small dick thing.

Jerks are everywhere. No point keeping this thread open. The only possible reason I could see if it was about Canucks fans. Because they truly do suck.
