Strategy for the Flames
What kind of strategy do the Flames go for this year? What kind of team philosophy needs to be followed? How would you build your lines and special teams and why?
This is basically a thread to post about the current strategy and methodology of the Flames, what you'd like to see them doing and what you like from what you see currently.

Score more goals than the other team.
Build lines to score more goals than the other team. Mix youth with veterans if possible. Learn from mistakes and successes.
Build the power play to score more goals than the other team, and the penalty kill to surrender fewer goals than the other team.

McGrattan taking the first faceoff of every game. After that, just spread the ice time out and make sure that any rookies we're keeping up get a chance in every situation to prove their worth.

Focus on special teams. Have a great pp and pk and the five on five will follow. Hope the players buy into the system.

Plant "the sickness" in all teams 4 days before they play the Flames. Nobody would catch on.

Roll all 4 lines equally. Try and wear the opposition down with a strong work ethic.

I'm not convinced Hartley even has a system. Don't let the kids get headhunted by goons? Stop letting opposition players camp on top of our goaltenders?

Build an all for one mentality where no one takes liberties with your teammates. Play hard 100% of the time or risk eating popcorn or getting sent down. The flames have enough young hungry pros that they can actually enforce that policy. This is all done while building the worst roster on paper in the league and positioning the organization to pick very high in 2014. I am a little concerned about what Burke may try and pull next summer but I truly believe Ekblad+McDavid in the next 2 years will result in a perennial contender for the decade+ that follows. Obviously a lot of luck required to draft those 2
Basically the flames will want to do what the oilers did but not develop the losing culture they have up north. Easier said than done

When arriving the day before, the Calgary Flames are pleased to offer free drinks after 11:00pm at the French Maid.
