Flames assign 6 to Abbotsford
Pat Steinberg@Fan960Steinberg1m
#Flames assign 6 players to Abbotsford: Billins, Ramage, Wotherspoon, Begin, Granlund, and Jooris.
Aaron Vickers@VickersFC43s
#Flames now have three goalies, 10 defensemen and 19 forwards heading into camp. They still need to trim down to 23 by 5 PM ET on Sept 30th.

no surprises there. Thought they might send Seiloff down since he has not played in the last 2 pre-season games.

None of these are overly surprising. Wotherspoon probably could have stayed up, but even that isn't shocking.

Will be interesting to see how Granlund, Wotherspoon and Ramage do, obviously. Hopefully we see them up in Calgary at some point in the season too.

Isn't Kanzig injured? Perhaps this is more a learning experience for him, just being around pros for the remainder of camp.

Kanzig won't make the team, but a good long look is not a bad idea. Coaching staff here can let him know what they want him to work on when he goes back to junior

Breen, Seiloff and Kanzig still up. Wouldn't be earth shattering but would be surprising if any one other than the 7 defenseman with 1 way contracts make the team. I feel like Smith's the likeliest target not too, but as a 7th defenseman he's not an issue. Breen and Seiloff, now that he's turning pro, likely see time if injuries or roster change (especially after deadline).
Forwards still a little bit more tricky, Monahan, Bouma, Reinhart, Knight, Street, Ferland and Horak are still competing for a couple spots along with B. Jones and Jackman.

Feaster said yesterday more cuts were coming tomorrow, so tonight's game against Phoenix becomes even more crucial. #Flames

I think someone related a tweet that said he was hurt.

I'm assuming for Kanzig & Breen (and likely Seiloff) they are just sticking with the team to get treatment etc which I assume is better in the NHL than the AHL (or WHL in Kanzig's case). Doesn't look like any of them are playing tonight (or played yesterday) so you'd think they wouldn't have much chance of sticking.

Damn...I was really hoping Granlund would make a big splash this year. He was looking great at the WJHCs. Hopefully he gets called up soon...

I was under the impression (but not certain) that Granlund wasn't 100%
The big surprise for me is that Street is still here.
And I would have liked to see Wotherspoon in a game against a more NHL-esque lineup.
Really happy for Ferland that he has lasted this long.

As for the money, don't really know what kind of contract he'd be on in Finland, but he'll make less in the AHL, I'm sure. But then his older brother could conceivably be making millions in the KHL at this point and he never uttered a single negative word about playing in the minors. I doubt it's an issue for Markus so long as he feels that his career and development has forward momentum.

Kanzig getting more time with the pros to practice. Incentive to have a great WHL season with an impact. Good on the giant kid.
Seiloff injured, it is probably so the trainers can work with him more.
Would have liked Wotherspoon or Ramage to remain to show up Butler.
Every game both of them have stood out in a good way. Smooth with the puck don't seem to panic and embrace the challenges.
Granlund hopefully developes further with the Heat. He didn't stand out. JMO.
Jooris had a decent camp but its pretty clear he was suppose to be in the AHL to gain more experience. Showed that he could be A future NHL'r.
Billings meh.
