Looking to trade iphone's

Looking to trade an iPhone 4 that's locked to Fido for one that will work with Telus. The girlfriends phone has crapped out and all I have around is the Fido phone which won't work for her seeing as I'm not tech savy enough to unlock it.

If Fido won't do it, there are unlockers online. You want to find ones that do factory unlocks. Basically they work on your behalf to get Fido to tell Apple to add your phone to their "unlocked" inventory. When they are done iTunes will tell you the phone is unlocked.

There are other ways to unlock phones using software, but i you reset your phone or even sometimes do an OS update, it will revert back.

^^ True. However when I bought an iPhone used Telus would not unlock it for me. I had to have the original owner call in and pay for the unlock. Fortunately it was a co-worker, so I was able to get her to help me.

I have also heard of carriers asking people to activate the phone for a period of 3 months, which would make an online unlocker a better option.

Because I don't have an active account with Fido anymore they won't unlock it for me. I've been playing around with some of the software out there without too much luck yet and I don't really feeling like dropping $100+ for a unlock site that I'm not 100% if it'll actually work or not. Looks like she may be stuck with an older android with a damaged screen for a while.
