C-Train Disruption- route 201
Pedestrian reportedly struck and killed by CTrain
Heads up for anybody commuting into downtown. Sounds like NB trains will only go to Erlton, and SB trains will only go to 8th street.

Ya currently stuck on a SB train at SAIT. It's been slow since university and we've stopped at each station for about 5-10 min

Sounds like a train hit a pedestrian in the tunnel going southbound just beyond city hall.

More often than not, the individuals that are hit are NOT homeless actually.

How does someone get hit INSIDE (based on what I've read) of the tunnel?
Either way, it was a gong show. First they tell us to get off at Erlton with no shuttle buses waiting, then after waiting 10 mins I see the train go to Victoria park, so I take the train 1 stop and decide to walk. There wasn't any shuttle buses on Macleod when I got off the train.
I think Car 2 Go would've helped, but I have no idea how it works XD.

There were about 2000 people at Earlton waiting to go DT when I got off there ~30 min ago.
I assume cleanup of this one would be a lot more extreme than a low speed 7 Ave pedestrian collision. The trains hit ~100 KPH in that tunnel.

80 km/h is the max speed of the trains. But I doubt they hit more than about 60 in there. Either way, it wouldn't be pretty.

Fair enough. Still a much faster collision than the low speeds they travel on 7th, I guess tunnels are disorienting for frame of reference, but they definitely book it in that tunnel particularly.

Car2Go step #1 is to sign up weeks before you need the service.

In the tunnel it sounds like it could be a suicide. You will know if the story doesn't get picked up by the news beyond the traffic and train delays.

Yikes, not a good day to be on transit:
Bus vs train in Ottawa - 5 dead and over a dozen injured. :S

I signed up when they had the free promotion for this reason. Only needed to use it once, but the ability to walk out of the office and get into a car with almost no notice was well worth it. Almost used it when the guy got hit by train at SAIT a year ago, but the closest car was a long enough walk that I just walked over to 14th St and took whatever bus downtown.

You would think that most able-bodied people would figure out that it would be much quicker to walk from Erlton than wait for shuttle buses. In 20 minutes, you'd be pretty much anywhere in the core.
Are people really that.....no, nevermind, I already know the answer to that question.

And cyclists are a close third. However those ones are met by joy, corpse revenge fantasies and Star Trek GIF parties by the CP faithful.
