Default Aftermarket Auto Warranty

Has anyone had any good experiences with them?

My wife and I bought a Murano in the states. We bought the Nissan warranty and everything has been great. We were told that the warranty was good in North America ( Canada and US). We took our Murano into a dealership here, in Calgary, to get daytime running light installed. It has been a disaster. The lights started blinking on and off so we took it back in. They can't even get the Murano to start now. They are saying it's not their fault etc etc. Luckily our factory warranty is still valid for 4000 more miles ( and it valid in US and Canada)

Long story short: Our US Nissan extended Warranty supposedly is not valid here. Nissan Canada can not sell us a Nissan warranty on a US vehicle. We have to look into a aftermarket warranty. Any suggestions or feedback

Sounds like they messed up the wiring on the DRL install. Personally I'd skip the extended warranty, not worth the expense. You could research the common issues on that vehicle and see if its even worthwhile if they are easily repaired.

Now I'm just worried that the people at the dealership have royally fubar'd stuff up. They ordered a body control module that didn't work. They ordered another module and it hasn't worked so they don't really know what they seem to be doing. Every other sentence is "This isn't our fault, it's not caused by the daytime running light install", even though we haven't had a problem until they touched it. The best part of the whole deal, this actually made me laugh out loud on the phone, is they had the audacity to call and try to sell us a new Murano while they had ours dead in the shop. I got a kick out of that.

take the 4 to 5 grand you would spend on an aftermarket warranty and just put it into a savings account, drawing from there if the vehicle needs work done.

I think manufacturer warranties are a good thing to have if you are the type of person who likes to minimize risk. Problems with the vehicle are fixed using new OEM parts, you don't worry about the cost.

Aftermarket warranties can sometimes be a pain to get use out of. Often the company will want to send a rep out to inspect the vehicle themselves to verify what the tech is saying is wrong, then find the absolute cheapest route to get the vehicle running, including second hand or refurbished parts. They still get the vehicle fixed but your vehicle spends more time in the shop.

You should try to get your money back from wherever you bought it, if you haven't already.

I would be putting the warranty thing on the very far back burner and thinking about the gigantic pain in the butt this install thing is going to be.

There is no way in hell I would be paying for whatever they have done.

You may have to get an unbiased second opinion or something.

Nope I am not worried about the install thing, as it's under the factory warranty from Nissan. I am just losing confidence that this particular dealership has capable technicians. I called Nissan Canada this afternoon with a complaint to put the lean/pressure on the dealership.

Sorry, guess I misread. It sounded like you were having issues with who was going to be responsible for the repairs.

In that case I would agree with the above, that you should save the cash for any potential repairs rather than dump it on the extended warranty. Also research recurring problems on the Murano.

Although I am anti-extended warranty on anything, so that sways my opinion.

Not exactly on topic here, but Nissan Canada can/will do very little to solve your issue. Trust me I know ( work @ a Nissan dealer). Cut bait and take it to a different dealership!
