Default Why is there so much hate for B.Jones?

Every thread has him demoted or traded. Kid plays with more heart and grit then Iginla did his final season.

He was a pest and was able to get under the skin of even the big boys. Just remember the blocked shot that broke his foot. Kid was still trying to block shots and finish the shift (OK maybe he was stuck out there)

Not only that but if I recall he was good in the dot

I would rather him take a spot then Jackman or the likes

I feel like you only watched 2 minutes of a Blair Jones shift, and not multiple games. Otherwise the answer would be fairly clear.

Pre injury - Blair Jones was good at his role. Post injury - Blair Jones seems to be struggling to find himself.

I think your another sheep following the herd lol

Kid wasn't given a shot after injury IMO he could have done Begin's job last year.

So an ad hominem attack on Iginla and a "you're a sheep" rebuttal. Yup, can tell this won't be a thread full of intelligent arguments.

Pot calling the kettle black?

Not an attack on Iginla. He just doesn't have the step in his he anymore.

That's what I'm getting at. I don't think he was given the chance really.

Since when did pointing out flaws or poor play from players become hate? Not just this thread but it has been used by others as well.

I liked what I saw in limited time from Jones and thought he certainly should have been on the team last year and likely would want him here this year as well but I can certainly see why others would have him demoted or off the team.

His "pest" status or "getting under guys" skin was really overrated after the SJ game last year. He is a typical bottom 6 grinder that seems good on the dot (at least compared to the other options) that isn't going to make him the top choice in many people's minds especially with new shiny young kids that people have hope for.

I was not expecting your join date to be 2007 when I read this...you asked a question, he gave an answer so that makes him a sheep?

B. Jones was three shades of bad last year and had trouble finding this super heart you speak of....hopefully he has it figured out now because two years ago he was fun to watch and cheer for.

Ask puckluck or Hartley. The truth lies in between

I'm not saying give him top six. 4th line is perfect. But why rush the younger guys when he's a better option on the bottom six?

I didn't think he was that bad overall. But he got in Hartley's bad side and that pretty much sealed his fate. I do think that it is kind of weird how both Hartley and Feaster seemed to bury him on the Heat and that was kind of the end of him. Never really heard anything about him afterwards.

Probably because some people think that he isn't a better option on the bottom 6.

Is it really that shocking for you that there is not a uniform opinion on Jones and that some people value him less than you do?

It is not like we are talking about Crosby, Malkin or Toews here.

Right, because when I joined an internet forum determines the value of my fandom. He didn't answer anything. He made remarks without support.

Look I'm not picking fights with anyone. So I really don't need smart ass remarks about me being the basis of this thread.

I'm asking why he wasnt, by fans, looked at as part of the rebuild.

Yeah, I feel that there is more to this story than was released publicly. B. Jones went from being picked as the first shooter in a shootout to being waived and demoted less than two weeks later...

I never bought into the "wasn't given a shot" crutch. If you are given a shift then there's no reason why you can't be judged on that shift. If you are not getting enough opportunities then you better be making the most out of the little you get. If a player is playing lights out hockey and not getting the ice then I can see the wasn't given a shot, but most cases it's far from that

I don't mind Jones, and would love him to play at the level a couple games before his injury, but a couple games doesn't make a season or a career

Ok, tell me which four centres of this list you put him ahead of:

Stajan
Backlund
Horak
Monahan
Knight
Begin
Bouma

If Bouma is healthy, I put Jones ahead of none. Especially in context. If "heart" is your thing, Begin easily matches and also brings veteran leadership. Guys like Knight and Bouma have futures with this team and would benefit more from NHL minutes. Jones, frankly, does not have a place or a future in Calgary. He's going to go to Abbotsford, where he might get a recall if there are injuries, but will otherwise be claimed on waivers, traded or allowed to leave as a free agent after the season. He simply doesn't bring nearly enough to be part of a rebuild.

He's really fallen off, I did enjoy him when he first joined the team.

I know you asked the OP and not me but I put Jones ahead of Begin (much, much, much, better player), Bouma, Horak (I see both as wingers at NHL level and he is better than Horak), Knight (shown 0 in the NHL and little in his NCAA career to indicate he will be anything). I probably put him ahead of Monahan because I would rather see Monahan play top 6 or OHL than 3rd/4th line center but if they want Monahan in top 6 and say Backland/Stajan as the 3rd line guy then obviously Monahan is above Jones.

I would have it ideally (meaning Monahan plays well enough to be a top 6 guy) center depth:

Monahan
Stajan
Backland
Jones

No Monahan:

Stajan
Backland
Jones
Bouma/Knight
