Default Flames vs. Sharks, 6:30 MDT

I'd like to see if Ferland, Granlund, Ramage, Poirier and the rest of the prospects who have impressed can finish out the tournament with a bang.

I'm also wondering if they give Ortio an encore.

Up against the Sharks prospects, I can't see the Flames having as tough a time as they did against the Canucks youngins. Should be a fun, high scoring game to watch.

GO FLAMES!

I was at the other end of the rink but early in the first game Sven was taken hard into the boards. It may have thrown him off. I worry about his health.

I believe a group of about half a dozen or so Heat season ticket holders went down for the weekend to support the boys.

We may not have the biggest showing of fan support, but the season ticket holders we have are fanatical about the team. They'll stand out in the pouring rain at 5 AM to see the guys off to a long road trip. They're awesome.

I was wondering about that too. That cross check from behind into the boards by Nurse might've hurt him.

So he gets hurt in the World Juniors in the first game, then has a half-season ending concussion in Portland (the one where he put up 2.00 P/PG), then has that "whiplash" in late November with the Heat... now what?

I'm a little worried about his health too.

Just curious PMM, but do these fanatical Heat fans support the Flames at the NHL level? Or are they, like most Abbotsford residents, Canucks fans?

I've met a couple that are Flames fans. The vast majority are 'hybrids', which is weird to think about. They follow the Flames' prospects' comings and goings, they follow Heat players playing with the Flames, but they're not Flames fans.

As tribal as Canadian hockey fans are, they're a pretty rare breed for the most part.

Sharks are 0-2. 5 GF, 8 GA. 3 players have combined for all of their GF.

i was chatting with the couple with the heat jerseys - they are hard core heat fans.... and i'm talkin' hard core... which is cool to see. i wouldn't call them fans of the flames. more like they get choked when the flames call a guy up from the heat.

I think I know the couple you're talking about, and yes, they're hardcore. Like Oakland-Raiders-fans-in-the-early-1980s hardcore.

Brossoit was solid his game as well. Maybe they'll split duties tonight. Was wondering why Berra isn't at the tournament? Would've been nice to see all 3 play one game. Is he not elligible?

What I really like seeing (I know it's a small sample size) is the Flames have the lowest Goals Against. I know Ortio was responsible for most of it in game 2, but overall they are playing solid team defense with very little time together. That's a good sign.

Oh, and the Sharks have almost nothing in the cupboard right now. It's going to be a long few years for that franchise.

Me to. We have to keep in mind the guy is double teamed every time he hits the ice. He is also playing against guys who are at 150% because this might be their only opportunity to shine. Plus he is the target of head hunters that would like nothing more then getting a big shot on the teams star.

Most guys in his position don't do well in these tournaments.

Still, it would be nice for this to be the Sven show so he can go into camp without a bad taste in his mouth.
