I thought it was at least worth a game, but I'm not expecting anything to come of it

From that angle, it doesn't look like Backes hung the leg. No suspension. Sucks for Stajan.

I don't think ther will be a suspension. He lunges forward at impact expecting shoulder contact but Stajan eluded it

We are talking about a Calgary Flame getting injured here, the league doesn't give a fickle.
So business as usual

Stajan was sure upset about it and impacted the gameplay at the moment. I would say a 4 game suspension for the Ref's.
I was kind of surprised as I've never scene the Blue's play as dirty as they in the third and OT. They must have been feeling overwhelmed.

Won't be a suspension. Should there be? Hard to say, both angles from the replays don't really show any intent to injure. Backes does move his whole body in to make the hit but only the knees collided. I don't know.
At least it wasn't a gross reverse knee bend though. Hopefully Stajan is only away for a short period of time. But, maybe Knight gets the call up. Or Granlund. I got to admit, I'd love for Granlund to come up.

No suspension. Incidental contact IMO. It sucks but accidents happen.

Lifetime Suspension

1 game would be nice, just to show some respect to CGY which we never ever seem to get.
Plus, not like Backes is the most 'innocent' type.

Definite suspension and the NHL will set a precedent with this one. Stajan will get 5 games for getting mad about being injured.

Just to show some respect? These suspensions count as prior history for next time and cost the player real dollars.
I'm not sure it's suspension worthy, but if it is, for God's sake I hope it's not to "show Calgary some respect"

I don't think it deserves a suspension. As crappy as it is, after watching a few times, I don't think there was any intent by Backes to hit the knee. Just bad luck.

I doubt that it's intentional, but it's clearly reckless to the point of being a dangerous play.
Prior history angle is exactly why you should give 1 game for that. If you never get anything for being dangerously reckless, you never have a reason to try clean up your game. Plus if you play that way and something really bad happens, it's not like they should be treated like it's "just this one time".
Let's hope Stajan is okay, for his sake and for the teams sake. (Sad to say it, but he probably wants to get traded, and trading him would be best for the team.)

I was just going to post this, he looked sincerely sad for what had happened, and as mad as I was when it happened, the replays do not show any malicious intent. Not suspension worthy. Stajan was hurt, but not sure he was injured, he appeared to walk down the tunnel, so it may have just been a charley horse.
