I would have said $5 million, but hey, whatever. You would think that for the long term deal they would have gotten a better cap hit. I'm still not convinced he's a top 10 starter in the NHL.

Is that a market rate for him? I'm having trouble thinking of another team that would pay him $6 million. This deal reminds me of the Huet and Khabbibulin deals Chicago used to hand out. That being said, the guy fits with their team so if they figure they can keep the band together, maybe it works.

It always works out when you pay a goalie big money after 1 good season

Hahahaha wow... I'd say that it will cripple the team in a few years but they have so much talent I don't think even a few bad contracts could do it.

could be a dangerous time too for Chicago because of the new equipment rules

Eeeash. Terrible deal for a team in perpetual cap issues. Don't they have to get Kane re-signed soon here? And Hjalmerson?

That's a bigger cap hit than Kipper ever had.

That's pretty terrible. I always thought Crawford's biggest asset was that he was cheap.

I don't think you can go by goalies contracts of the past. My guess is that top 5-6 goalies are going to get $7million- $8 million in the future.
Don't like the term, nor the money, but this is what we are going to see in the future.

I see time proving this to be an unwise allocation of funds and cap space.

And all i can remember of his play in the playoffs was teams repeatedly picking his glove side and him waving at it.
