Groomer Bitchslapping Dogs at Local Groomery
Wow this video is crazy. I'm pretty sure my shiba was beaten when we used to leave her for a whole day. I only take her to places like petsmart where they have like a 1 hour express service now.
Trina Riel, a former employee who was at Fur Kids since March, said could not longer turn a blind eye nor walk away without ensuring the abuse stopped.
“All I wanted to do was quit,” she said.
But friends and family said “it would still go on’ and convinced her to record the video and hand it over to humane society officials.
She said the ongoing abuse was disturbing and upsetting, given it seemed to stem from unprovoked anger directed at dogs, which in some cases had trouble standing .
“You can see from the video clearly, they are not doing anything,” she said.
“I’m jobless now,” she added.
“But it was worth it.”
The Sun initially obtained the video from Maggie O’Shaughnessy, a local lawyer, who earlier this year left her beloved pooch at a different doggie day care only to pick it up and find it in distress.
She said Harley, a 12-year-old Yorkie/chihuahua mix, was a near lifeless “ragdoll,” and had to be euthanized hours later — a case still under investigation by humane society officials.

It is convenient and a lot of fun for me. I've known Mariko (Manager & Lead Groomer) for 8 years and she is awesome! Give it a try, I just know you're going to love it!" -Myles, Golden Retriever, 12 years old

Wow, that person is sick in the head. I hope they don't have children.
I would lose my #### if that was my dog.

This is a really good idea in my opinion, there is nothing happening at these facilities that should be private.

It should be private to the public, but not to their clients. If that's what you mean.
Edit: If I saw a video of someone doing that to my dog, they'd better hope I never see them again or else. OR ELSE!

Yikes, a close friend takes her dog here for daycare.
Not any more, I assume.

I am surprised that the dog grooming company is choosing to allow this employee to remain employed there. That shows right there that I will never take my dogs there.

NO, they have terminated Mariko, the person in question.
I would never take my dog to a place with a name like 'fur kids' on principal alone, so I am lucky there. Anyone who uses the term 'fur kid' to describe their dog, should be punched in the spinal cord.

Dont get why people go into these professions if they are just there to abuse animals. This is the one reason why we do our own grooming at home, its because of ****s like these. Thank god for the Internet.

I think Sliver is polishing up his resume now that a vacancy has opened up at this place.

Yea, I'm shocked as well, if it were my company that employee would be fired and I would be phoning up every other groomer/doggy day care throughout the city to warn them about this person. I can't believe that the co-owner said that the employee has the benefit of the doubt, that is absolutely ridiculous.

As pylon mentioned a few posts up and the Sun link, she has been fired.
Quote:
Miles originally told the Sun he wanted to give the employee the benefit of the doubt.
But later, he said: “We wanted to wait until the humane society finished their review ... but given feedback we’ve received from the public we thought it to be the right thing to terminate the employee.”

Just a horrible hateful person she is. If anyone has ever had a pet dog pass away you realize how part of your family a dog really can be.
This reminds me of when you see a sickening video from a hidden Nannie cam of some person abusing helpless kids they are entrusted to take care of.

Yeah this is terrible, but I can't be the only one that chuckled at the use of "bitchslapping" in the thread title.

The sad thing is if your dog lashed back and attacked her, your dog would probably end up taking the blame.
Bruises don't show very well on dogs.

Setting up surveillance that's accessible could prove pretty costly, so forcing companies to do it is unreasonable in my opinion. A fine marketing idea if you have the ability to do it though.

Sickening. My dogs are always scared when we leave them at the groomer. Makes me worried now.

One is a dog and the other one a human. Just because she abuses dogs doesn't mean she abuses her kids.
