Flames Prospect Polls comparison
I have been following the CP prospect poll with great interest, and thought it would be interesting to see how the CP pool compares to some other recently published polls.
I found recent ones from Hockeys Future, Hockey Prospectus, NHL.com, The Hockey News, Flames Nation, and The Hockey Writers.
Some of the polls were done before the draft, and they don't all have the same criteria for what a prospect is....but it's an interesting overview nonetheless.

Anyone who doesn't think Monahan is our best prospect is loopy.

Uh...who is our top prospect on NHL???
Oh, and you will note that nobody else considers Berra a prospect. He's a pro European player trying to transition to North America...

The fact that Flames Nation doesn't have any of this year's picks leads me to believe their list is from last year. Also, them ranking Janko #15 is laughable.

Anyone ranking Reinhart as our 4th best prospect must be smoking something.
Also, I agree that Berra should have never been included on the CP list.

They have Agostino and Cundari, so it's at least since the trade deadline.

I think Monahan is our best prospect but if someone chooses Sven, I don't think they're loopy at all

Flames Nation poll was done before the draft, sometime in June I believe....HW poll was also done around that time.
All the others were done recently.....

Everything I read out of FN on Janko is they think he was a terrible pick and a mediocre prospect.
Hopefully he gives them a reason to change their tune this season

Great work Red Menace. That is pretty interesting to see the comparison.
I find it weird that THN would rank Knight as our 10th best prospect. Seems extremely low.

The THN list was from their Fantasy Pool Guide by the way......they also seem to have graduated Sven from prospect status.
I think HF similarly graduated Horak and perhaps some others.

That kind of thinking is what caused the second world war. Whoever disagrees with me is crazy!

Funny THN has the closest to matching our top 10, and they seem to just blindly be using guys draft positions for ranking recent picks..

I am struck how low Reinhart is, compared to the other lists. Perhaps we are underrating?
I think the difference is judging prospects on potential upside vs. timeframe to make the NHL. The criteria of how these guys are ranked, is obviously important.

If I recall, the FN list weighed heavily on who was closest to NHL ready, hence Bouma and Reinhart being higher in the rankings. The older players get higher rankings, Janko at 15 because he's still 5 years away from the NHL.

Flamesnation cuts their rankings off at under the age of 24 I believe.
Jankowski is ranked so low because he didn't have a great Freshman year. He racked up points against the weakest teams in the NCAA and was fed butter soft top 6 minutes.
Not to say he is terrible. But he has shown nothing to say he is close to a top 10 prospect besides being drafted in the first round (which shouldn't be that much of a qualifier in this organization).
