Cannondale builds awesome stuff, I would own one if it fit me right, they always feel cramped when I get the right inseam height.
My Devinci Olso SL is my favorite bike ever (except for my 84 Diamond Back Pacer 500 lol). It started as a vanilla hybrid, and I turned it into a full guns, rocketship performance commuter. The big thing that caught my eye, was the frame had full internal cable routing, which was rare for a $900 hybrid. And saw the potential for a project. Swapped out all the gearing components for SRAM Apex gearing and cranks, installed Mavic Aksium Road wheels, with 25c road slicks. And swapped out a bunch of other stuff to perfecly customize and fit it to me. I have had a ton of hardcore cyclists ask me about it, and some even offer to buy it. My sole focus was on a balance of weight and durability (I got it just under 20 lbs without panniers). And of course the perfect fit. I would cry if I lost it.
The inspiration for the build was based on this bike:
This is the ultimate turn key package. Shimano 105 all the way through which is bullet proof, 105 compact crankset (not some cheapie FSA) carbon fork, dead sexy bare aluminum frame, Cannondale quality. It has it all. The only thing I would do is swap the tires down to 23's or 25's. I could have saved around a thousand dollars buy buying it over my Devinci and swapping everything out, and should have.
The big thing is this. Go flat bar. I have a $3500 Carbon Trek Madone collecting dust because I hate being a Lycra loser everywhere I go, and drop bar road bikes just aren't that comfortable or practical for everyday use. For 98% of riders, these new flat bar bikes performance commuters/fitness bikes, are just as fast a drop bar bikes, and in many cases faster, as you are way more comfortable, and need less stops to stretch.
