Downtown thread (Things that happen downtown)
Thought I'd start a thread about all the things that happen downtown (good or bad). I'll start with a delightful road rage incident I just saw where a woman in a Nissan Altima almost hits a guy in an SUV.
The incident escalates from a shouting match to the woman throwing her milkshake (or some other creamy drink) at the guy's driver window, splashing it all over his car. Then, the woman speeds off with the guy in hot pursuit. I wanted to linger around for the inevitable car battering rams, but had to get into the office early for a meeting.
I hope someone from CP land saw this too. It was pretty awesome.

I used to live downtown, 129th Street
Convent, everything's upbeat
Parties, ball in the park
Nothing, but girls after dark
We chill, nobody gets ill
In the place we call the hill
But if you try 'em
That's when they will
Get wild, but they don't fight, they kill
At the wild wild west

I watched a homeless man save an injured Canada Goose from incoming traffic. Downtown is never boring.

No, the goose seemed to be quite distracted by its own pain. It didn't freak out but it was also pretty fast.
The homeless man is called 'Preacher Tom' on the street, lovely guy, who I shared lunch with that day.
It's neat being downtown because it doesn't matter what day of the week it is; you always see something off the beaten path.

Has anyone else seen that guy with the "Nenshi is a big goof" picketing signs by Bow Valley Square?

It sounds like the use of Anti-homeless spikes are causing quite a stir in other cities.
Notice the subtle ones in Downtown Calgary?

Is he the one who ran for mayor and then had the signs after the election that said the vote was fraudulent and had to be re-done?

he had a lovely "Hitler-Nenshi" sign as well.
We're on the ground floor on 12ave, we were lucky enough to see a homeless guy piss on the building behind us the other day. What a treat.

I'm not sure if it's Papez, but he got really upset when a group of co-workers laughed at him walking by the other day.
