CGY's Sieloff takes a dumb penalty. Tosses a SWE forward over him while going to the bench.
It's on fasthockey.com but you have to pay for the stream

Good. Quality defense, good puck transistion. RT @TheRealPoc: @coreypronman Other than the dumb penalty, what did you think of Sieloff?

Sweden won 4-2. Gillies only played the first period, stopping 11 of 12 shots.

Maybe what you heard is the USA-Finland game. The US is using a split squad to play two games today.

The US has two teams. Both played today. Team White (Gillies and Sieloff) lost to Sweden 4-2, and Team Blue (no Flames) lost to Finland 6-5.

Tomorrow, they switch, White will play Finland and Blue will play Sweden.

Then, Canada arrives on Wednesday and the US will combine its teams into one.

Wednesday: Canada vs Finland & USA vs Sweden
Thursday: Canada vs Sweden & USA vs Finland
Saturday: Canada vs USA & Sweden vs Finland

Corey Pronman ‏@coreypronman 35m Lucia also noted CGY's Sieloff as one of the most improved players from last year. Said he liked the Kerdiles-O'Regan-Barber line a lot.

the Gillies quote makes it sound like he expects him to be the captain as well.

Poirier taking Rattie's spot alongside Petan and Leipsic on what was the highest-scoring line in the WHL last year.

Artturi Lehkonen: 3+1
Teuvo Teravainen: 1+3
Olli Maatta: 0+4
Ville Pokka 1+2.

Those are the guys Finland has high hopes for, and they sure didn't disappoint in the first game.

Some stiff competition at C for Jankowski...

Do we know why Poirier got an invite and not Klimchuk? Klimchuk was ahead of Poirier on most draft lists this year, but maybe it's just positional?

Maybe because he is a '94 birth?

The tournament usually is a 19 year old tournament and usually the older guys beat out the younger guys even if they were/are lower ranked as NHL prospects.
