Default Apprenticeship hours?

Just wondering if anyone knows if you worked at a place for lets say 3 years and didnt go into an apprenticeship, Is there anyway to use those previous hours towards a future one? Or would you have to start your hours from scratch?

Thanks

You could challange your first and or second year exams. Or speak to somebody at the apprenticeship office. You may just need somebody to sign off on the hours in your blue book.

I think you have to start from scratch, a few years back my gf didn't get credited for hours that she worked because she didn't do the proper documentation in her blue book, even though she could proove she had worked the hours. Of course this could be different depending on the trade, but I'm assuming it isn't otherwise it would be very easy to make fraudulent hours claims.

If you have time you will have a better chance to have all your questions answered if you go in and talk to somebody. They barely pick up the phone there because they are so busy.

You can also try calling SAIT (well, assuming it's a trades program that SAIT offers) and talking with the Academic Chair of the relevant program. They're very in-tune with the apprenticeship board requirements and are a good resource.

It depends on the trade. This happened to a co-worker of mine, he was only given credit for 600 hours of his first year even though he had worked well over 6000 hours as an apprentice.

You could challenge the exams but you still need the required amount hours for each year iirc. I know in my trade you don't need to have a certified tradesperson sign your blue book but certain trades you need a journeyman to sign your book. I would of never passed my exams if I challenged them without school though.
