More buses and tubes evacuated this lunchtime. Reports that a device on a bus and a tube both failed to detonate properly. Pretty sketchy reports so far but it looks like there are no injuries so far.
Places evacuated are the tube stations at the Oval (ashes started today against Australia), Warren St and Shepherds Bush. The bus is on Columbia Road.

yikes! This is probably a completely unsound theory, but the fact that these seem to be much smaller in scope, and apparently not quite as thoroughly executed, makes me think its some type of copycat attempt.

Man, this really drives home the fact that it's almost impossible to completely stop suicide bomb attacks in open, free societies.
Coming just 2 weeks after the last bombings, London couldn't have been on higher alert and yet these people got back on public transit with bombs, even if small and poorly made ones.
Edit: Well it looks like these weren't suicide bombers, but the point is the same.

This attack has started me wondering....why havent these cowards brought there path of destruction into the US??
Nothing since 9/11....and it has to be easier to acquire explosives in the US than in Britain.
Im sure everyone still believes that something will happen again in the US, but what has taken so long?
Are they trying to build up something more spectacular? A bigger target?
Is the homeland security department proving to be successful? Is the level alert system keeping the threat of terrorism on peoples minds, therefor making civilians more aware to things that dont look like they belong?
Just curious what others feel the reason is for this.

I'm sure if you ask anyone in the government if it is because homeland security is doing it's job they'll tell you it absolutely is because they haven't had any terrorist attacks in the US since it was created.
Well if they beleive that 100% then I've got an anti-terrorist rock that they might want to purchase.
Unfortunately, it is one of those things that the only way we'll know if it is working or not, is if it fails miserably and another major attack happens.

That honestly scares the living crap out of me - almost as much as having a series of attacks. Just the anticipation that something terrible is gonna happen, but you don't know where, when or how.
I agree with you that it really has to make you wonder just why things are so damn quiet. Makes you think its gonna be huge.

Well, talked to the girlfriend earlier and she is okay. She says London Police have made two arrests so far. She was on a double decker tour bus when the explosions happened. Suddenly, there were police everywhere and all the roads were being blocked off. Most of the underground stations were closed and people didn't much feel like taking the bus, so there was tonnes of traffic all over London. Buy hey, better safe than sorry.
