I'd rather have Bouwmeester at 5.4 million than Wideman at 5.25. Good signing by the blues.

$5.4M is a more fitting cap hit for him than $6.7M.

Considering he had one good year in his last contract, even at $5.4mil for a no-hit dman is steep.

If you can get Bouwmeester signed for only 1.03 David Clarksons you take it.

Really think the pairing of JBO and Pietrangelo will be on the olympic team.

Once they get Pietrangelo signed they will have a very good top pairing in St.Louis for years to come.

Really wish Sutter would have let him play his style of game and i wish the flames had another top pairing guy to go with him. Gio just could not hack it on the top d line. Granted thats where Gio is going to be for the next couple of years.

Good on Bouw. Get a contract done before he plays another playoff game and before his ironman streak ends

Little long, but I guess he's still youngish. I think he'll have a few good years there.

Pretty much exactly what he's worth, so fair deal for everyone involved. Even when he was here everyone had the same opinion that Bouwmeester was a bad player making almost 7 mill per year, but he'd be fine making about 5. So based on that I think that's exactly what he's worth.

Wonder if this at all sets the precedent on what sort of deal Phaneuf will have to sign in the off-season?

Agreed. His style of play is made for international ice and international refs. I think the Hockey Canada staff will go with him over the sexy names like Letang and Subban and piss off everyone east of Manitoba.

I wish him all the best.....started playing really well for us under Hartley and could've possibly even changed many others opinions of him had he had a full season to do so.

Hard to judge how it turns out long term but I still like the return of Cundari and Poirier. I don't think I'd want JBo even at the lowered price.

Sounds about right for JBo - congrats to him

As for the return: Poirier, Cundari and Berra?... I'll take it!

If Bouw would have signed here for that amount, his whipping boy persona would have gone down ten-fold. Great deal for the Blues, especially considering that Pietrangelo will be his defensive partner. I don't know who his partners in FLA were, but this will by far be the best partner he will have had. I wouldn't be surprised at all to see them become the top pairing in the league at some point.
