Default Campgrounds around Sicamous

I'm looking at booking a campsite in the Sicamous, Mara, Salmon Arm area and have done some primarily searches online but I'd like to get some feedback from the CP brain-trust.

Here some of the musts we are looking for:
  • Full hookups
  • On Shuswap Lake
  • Good for kids

Any places to look at, any to avoid and just some general thoughts on the camping in that area would be awesome

Thanks

I only know the KOA east of Sicamous, but not on the lake. It does have a pool.

Look around Blind bay...west of Salmon Arm.

There are a few in that area.

Not really much around sicamous as far as lake front. There is also Yard Creek just east of sicamous on the trans can. Lots of private ones around salmon arm, blind bay and sorrento, none of the provincial ones have hookups unfortunately if you have to have them, but Ive camped at both Shuswap Lake, and Harold Provincial Parks, both are fantastic, with showers, flush toilets, lake front etc. Just depends how badly you need the hookups or not....

Joe Schmucks Motel/campground in sicamous has a few full service sites, it backs on to the eagle river, and is only a 2 minute drive to the public beach, ive stayed in the cabins before but never camped there.book early depending when you want to go, August is a gong show out there.

Mara Lake used to have the best campground ever where I spent the best weeks of my childhood every year.

It's a stupid RV park now. Right on the lake.

Enjoy

yeah its kind of a shame for how big that area is,( mara included) that there is only 2 provincial parks that are a pain in the ass to try to get into. there is literally nothing on mara, even down towards vernon and kelowna there really isnt much as far as camping goes.

Pierre's Point is nice, right outside of Salmon Arm (towards Sorrento)

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I'm a noob when it comes to camping, we just bought our truck and trailer in the fall. I'm looking forward to taking it on its maiden voyage! Maybe once we get the hang of the camping thing hookups won't be such a big deal. For me I could take them or leave them but my wife definitely wants them. Maybe her stance will soften once we get out a few times.
