Sounds lazy. The data is on capgeek. The only people that likely care are the ones that were arguing the hardest about the maximum term during the CBA negotiations.
I imagine that the player's union is pushing its players to get as many 7 and 8 year contracts as possible in order to justify demanding the longer term contracts.
Otherwise Bettman's group would come out at the next CBA talks and point out that most players only sign 5 year deals so that should be the new maximum (as he originally wanted this time).
Those two groups likely have the data crunched but are not sharing it with the public.
