Bouma should be on the team full time this year. He's more valuable than Jackman at this point.
Man, we really should have taken San Jose's offer for Jackman 2 seasons ago instead of re-signing him at the trade deadline.

Highly doubt either of these guys see significant NHL time this year.
Good job by Feaster to keep the contract lengths short.

You take some you leave some. Glad we never traded Iggy for Peca back in the day.
I have no hopes for Byron, although Bouma will be a solid player.

Well the rumour at the time was that Feaster was adamant about getting a 2nd round pick in return, and San Jose eventually gave up and traded for Winnik instead.
So its possible we could have gotten a 3rd rounder for him, but who knows.

Two years ago, Jackman was Crosby lite so I understand not trading him.

I'm happy there seems to be at least a signing per day, helps with the summer slowness.
Byron, I'm fine with him getting another shot, but who I'm really excited about is Bouma. I feel he would have been on the Flames full time last year if it wasn't for injury. Really stoked to see what he can do.

You are correct, but since he hasn't signed by 3pm Calgary time today, that means he rejected his QO.

Some seriously risk averse contracts. I like them. Prove you should be here or we will give your spot to a kid.
Calgary is doing some interesting things. A legacy of getting less than they paid for the last few years.

And since Brodie didn't sign by 3pm today, that means the same thing. They're both still RFAs, if I recall correctly.

I think Bouma starts with club. Byron is just there for Abby.

Why exactly would Bancks not accept his QO?

Tough to say. Last year was probably the best shot for either 2 to play a lot of games in the NHL and both got injured.
Byron 2 years ago was a little spark plug when he was called up and it seemed like if Feaster could have made a trade would have had Byron up with the big club for more than half the year. Last year he gets injured 2 games in and i personaly think that he could have been the spark plug again in Hartley's system. He will be a call up player this year, but instead of being first choice he is probably 2-3rd choice.
Not sure how Bouma's injury is going? He probably would have made the team last year, if not would have played a bunch of games as a call-up. He is going to have to be fully healed, and not miss a beat, to make it this year.
