I'm pretty sure he is Gary Bettman but he's so jaded with being the Commissioner of the NHL that the only way he can get his rocks off is by announcing NHL news on this particular messageboard every time the fax hits the league offices.
First CP, then before you know it you're smoking moon rocks to get the job done.

Sweet heart deal for the blues, good value contract if he continues putting up those numbers and short enough term that he can be ditched if he doesn't.
Well played St. Louis.

Good contract for a player that seems to be a little up and down at times. If he's really good for the two seasons they can look at extending and if he's cold they can cut him loose after two years or unload him at the trade deadline in the 2nd year of the deal.

St.L adds Bouwmeester, Leopold, Lapierrie, Roy, and Paarjarvi and loses Perron, McDonald, Russell and Redden.
They go from 18M under the cap to maybe 1-2M under the cap after they sign Pietrangelo and Paarjarvi.
Are they better?

Seems like a good deal for both sides, as long as Stewart can keep producing.

He has a Borque like streakiness so the cash is a bit high, but for that term I dont think youll find many complaints about it

Roy=McDonald
Perron >> Paarjarvi
Bouwmeester & Leopold >>>> Russell & Redden
I would say they are better after the moves.
Roy is younger than McDonald, and McDonald was retiring one way or another so at least they got a replacement for him.
Perron is good but not great and they got back a promising young player who needed a change of scenery in Paarjarvi and open up more top 6 space for Rattie/Tarasenko.
Bouw + Leopold are much better then Russell and Redden at this point and it is not even close.

Will they finish higher than 3rd in the West?
They just seem so much like the Flames when they wrapped up Iginla, Phanuef, Regehr and Kipper when they said it wouldn't fit under the cap.
This off season they were supposed to have trouble hanging on to Berglund, Shattenkirk, Pietroangelo and Stewart.... with Stewart most likely to be moved. They got them all ...... wonder if it will work out as well (or poorly) as it did for the Flames.

Not only that but guys like Schwartz and Tarasenko are a year older and should get larger roles.
