NHL Schedule speculation (released!)
So by this time last year the NHL schedule was released (was actually late June according to the actual NHL.com article). I can imagine that the Phoenix situation is the likely candidate for holding up the schedule, as well as the fact we've had re-alignment.
Anyone heard any rumours or any ideas on what this thing may look like? I'm really curious to see how we play East teams like Toronto and Montreal, how it fits in the schedule, and what the home dates for us may be with the Dome possibly out of commision. Maybe the NHL is pushing the shcedule back so it can book a large road trip for us to start the year? Or until the Flames ownership knows more about the Dome?

I know that they have to wait until the players are 100% allowed to go to the Olympics so they can schedule an Olympic break.

Sportsnet.ca has a video about Flames possibly playing games in Saskatoon until the Saddledome is ready.

Good point about the Socchi olympics. I imagine the NHL won't want to wait until August to release the schedule, likely we will see it some time this month. I can see the NHL ramp up pressure on the olympic people and the negotations.

How many times has Crosby played the Flames in Calgary? Twice? Once?
I would be sad if we lose even one premium home game to another venue next season. I guess there is a chance we might not even see Mackinnon next season if the Avs only come to Calgary once.
Waiting for the schedule to be released.

That is correct along with the Coyotes situation which has been resolved and as gargamel posted in the other schedule thread that July 17 is the day that the schedule will come out. This used to be around the time when the NHL schedule was released up until five years ago.

just read an NBC article from 2-3 weeks ago that the NHL had a date of july 17th in mind for the release of the new seasons schedule. I'm getting antsy.

I like A B C and D at this point. West and East. Make 'em totally uninspiring.

Builders would be great.
Bob Johnson, Scotty Bowman, Herb Brooks and Roger Neilson would be my choices.

Coaches would be okay. I'd prefer GMs names for the divisions. Sam Pollock, Bill Torrey, Keith Allen, and Craig Patrick.

I like it.
Gretzky = LA/EDM's division (A)
Hull = CHI/WPG's division (B)
Richard = MTL's division (C)
Lemieux = PIT's division (D)

No chance the NHL would honour Hull like that (after he bolted to the WHA).
Also, in this scenario, hard to imagine Orr not being one of the honourees
