Alright guys here's my problem, I'm looking to get myself another dog and after weeks of careful research (had to do something besides refresh Kippers NHLPA site right?) I finally decided that a Boxer is the right addition for me and my family. Fortunately I didn't go through any fuss getting my first dog so I've never dealt with breeders before and I don't really know what to expect. I've been able to find bits and pieces through google but it seems like there's really no hard source for Boxer breeders in Eastern BC/Alberta/Sask/Manitoba.

Anyways what I'm getting at is if anyone happens to own a Boxer and knows of a good place for me to look or at least begin my search I would greatly appreciate it. Also if anyone happens to just know a good general site of Canadian dog breeders that would be awesome because like I said I haven't been able to find any real sites of substance.

Any suggestions, comments etc. are very much appreciated as I'm starting to think this may be harder then I originally thought.

Thanks guys! Take Care.

I just bought a new puppy a couple weeks ago. An Irish terrier in fact, I went through the All Terrier Club and found the best breeder in Alberta.

Purebreds will cost you about $600-$3000 depending on the breed.

So what you need to do is find somebody with a boxer or a club devoted to boxers and get on that track.

You might know this site already:

http://www.albertaboxerclub.ca/

There is a lengthy list of members to the club and their e-mail addresses. There is also a chat room.

As well, consider a rescue Boxer. There are some rescues available at this site, although none in Alberta at the moment.

http://www.boxerrescuecanada.org/

That might get you started.

I would suggest looking at the humane society or search for a local boxer rescue organization. Most of these poor dogs have just been given a bad break in life and need a second chance. Plus, if you get an older dog, you don't need to go through the whole house-breaking thing. I got my adult dog from the humane society and besides being a great dog, he learned all the basic commands and his new name in less than week. Adult dogs are just as easy as puppies to train, despite the old saying.

Please, please check the humane society or even the ARF foundation (www.arf.ab.ca) before going to a breeder. There's a lot of boxers/boxer crosses at the humane society right now. If you're adamant about getting one from a breeder, make sure it's a reputable breeder and not a "backyard" breeder. There's purebred and there's "purebred". If you're not sure how to tell if the breeder is okay, can offer some suggestions in what to look for. I've trained dogs for about five years so if you have any questions, I'd be more than happy to help.
