I'm going to guess, with no other knowledge or evidence, that some guy thought he was tougher than a budding NHL player and quickly found out that was, in fact, not true.

Interesting. Obviously it's pure speculation, but I assume it was a bar fight. This will be a lesson for Michael that his career will lead to increased spotlight for incidents like this.

well damn
seems like a barfight incident
hope the guy he hurt is okay and also that it doesn't jeopardize his career in any way.
i would be more outraged but it sounds like this was a barfight and not someone beating up their wife or girlfriend, and i've seen ferland fight. fight ferland? do not want

Yeah, without any details I'm going to assume that it was the same as most barfights. Drunk idiots being drunk idiots. I'll presume that it's going to be a not guilty via self-defense (guy took a swing at him) plea. As I assume his orbital bone didn't break itself.

Young players like Ferland are taught to fight on the ice, not surprising when that attitude leaks outside of the rink.
Want to hear both sides of the story first though and not going to jump to any conclusions until I hear both sides.
