Geoffrion Retiring
Reportedly, Blake Geoffrion has informed Montreal he will retire.
You may recall he got a skull fracture after an awkward hit.

Sad to see, but you don't mess with that kind of injury

That sucks, but he hit the nail on the head. This is his brain hes talking about.
No one can play hockey forever, you have to be conscious and careful to be able to live a decent life afterwards.

Very sad. Imagine something being snatched away from you like that. Good luck with life after hockey, hope he banked some of that cash.

i'm glad to see he's made the tough (and IMO correct call)
he's got the rest of his life to live outside hockey.
still must be disappointing though

Cool that he managed to be a fourth generation Hab, if only for a little while.

Terrible, but absolutely the right call if his long-term health has any real risk if he returns.

That's a shame, you never want to see someone forced out of the game like that.

This is good point. I think he at least has a college degree. He can stay in hockey in some other capacity.

The article says he's considering retirement, not that he's officially retired, for what it's worth.
Shame, promising young player, but it's not like you can mess around with a skull fracture.

^^^ That was a great, clean hit.. It really was unfortunate to see an injury come from that.

Sad to see someone at 25 years old have to give up on a life long dream. Wish him the best.
