Anyone have any tried and true tricks for getting tar out of a dog's paws? Noticed last night that one of the pups picked up a bit. Managed to carefully clip away the one bit because it was mostly snarled in just hair. This other bit is as well but very close to the pad in the super short bits of hair, and he is none too keen on me trying to snip there.
Tried slathering it with some margarine to loosen it but not sure that's working. Is there anything you've used that works or is this a groomer/vet visit?
I never even thought of the Goo Gone - I think we might have some, will have to dig around in the cupboard to find it, and have a look for any warnings.
I don't use goo-gone unless I'm wearing gloves. The smell alone tells me it can't be good for you. Ran across a home made recipe (mix 1 part coconut oil and 1 part baking soda) that sounds like it might be an safer alternative, but I haven't tried it myself.
If you want to know the details of any product, try typing in the name with MSDS behind it. Quite often, the company will have to have a Material Safety Data Sheet available to the public, and this should bring you to it.
