Leafs waive Grabovski for buyout
I'm guessing we don't have to worry about Bozak now, I would assume this means the Leafs are going to re-sign him now.
Ryan Rishaug@TSNRyanRishaug3m
Mikhael Grabovski on unconditional waivers

Did not see this coming. Thought they could trade him for a "mey prospect" or high pick.

Other waivers today, I'm not sure who is on unconditional waivers:
Lee Snowden@SnowdenNHL3m
Eric Belanger, Darroll Powe, Johan Hedberg, and Aaron Asham also on waivers. #NHL

Mikhail Grabovski had $21.5 million and four years left on his contract with the #leafs.

...but now we have to worry about Grabovski.
I can't stand him as a player.

I believe in the Jays.

Feaster! Sign this guy!
I like Grabovski. His contract was silly season but he's a decent player, I'd much rather have him on a better deal then his last then have Bozak at whatever his inflated price is gonna be.

He is not a bad player, but that contract that Burke gave him was way too rich. I wouldn't mind getting him, but no more than 3 million for 2-3 years. Leafs were paying for potential there, and had no one capable of replacing him at the time. Grabovski made out like a bandit.

Well, if Matt Stajan is worth $3.5 million and David Jones is worth $4 million to the Flames, then Grabovski is probably worth more than $4 million to this team.
If a team signs him to $4 million per year for 3 years, it wouldn't surprise me.

Max I pay for Grabovski is $4M for 3 years. Nothing more in dollar or term.

I would think, without question, that Feaster will be sniffing around on this player.

Those contracts were handed out during a much different market.
I think it's a poor time to be a UFA this summer, coupled with Grabovski taking the payout from the Leafs, and I'd bet he signs for around a 3.5m cap-hit.
Just my opinion.

Same here. 3 year term is perfect for the Flames as it takes them until young guys start to come off ELCs.
Would take Grabo at $4M for 3 years in a heartbeat.

Hope so. Would much prefer Grabovski on a reduced deal to Bozak on what his prospective deal would cost.

Pretty crappy wedding gift from the Maple Leafs!
Chris Johnston@reporterchris21m
Mikhail Grabovski's agent says his client gets married tomorrow in Toronto. He'll also be a NHL free agent.

If you know one, hug a Leafs fan today. Based on Twitter reaction, most are preparing to jump off the highest bridge they can find.

If I had to wager, I would expect that overall, he will be benefiting financially from this in the long run.
Plus, he gets to pick his next team.

They bought him out, not fired him. He'll get upwards of 3million from another team in a day or two. It's an amazing gift.
