Out of curiosity, anyone remember how much cap they used.

I've always thought of these bonus's as a fools bet or giving your cap space back to the house

example... if the Kings spent 2M of their cap on bonuses and are only getting 1.8M back they are out 0.2M.

Obviously some teams here did really well and it paid off but I'll be interested to know how much return did they get on their dollar.

I ask, not to little your reward, but rather should this be something I rethink and look into because as of my mind set right now I don't even entertain the idea of applying for bonuses

Good quesiton,

12 teams applied for Sponsorships during the season 2012-2013

8 teams were awarded at least $2M or greater

Total of $27.1M was awarded this year, versus total of $15.8m Spent

There are teams that do extemely well every year with the Sponsorships...

I guess where I'm getting at is I'm not sure the reward is equal to the cost.

I would win as well and would use my 2M cap limit but i found it rare you get more 2M back. I really didn't see the point out side you had to hit the lottery.

If you win 4M, you get you original bet back plus 2M. So for locking up you Cap for a full season to make a 2M profit only team in the league was able to do that... should be more then just one team

For teams being so tight on Cap I really wonder if thats enough of a reward. A home run lotto winning ticket expectations is a little over what you bet.

Now the question is how many of these teams didn't bet 2M to find out who the winners are. At 15.8 in bets for 12 teams that equals at bet of 1.3M average per team

I thought about that before buying sponsorships last season too...

I don't remember what I spent, but I think I lost a small amount.

The thing is though, I wasn't using the cap space from last year. Once the season starts and cheese starts flowing like melted cheese whiz, spare cap space is rarely an asset.

I see it as trading cap from last year for cap for this year.

we had a good return on our investment this year and needed this money- bet on ourselves to get back into the playoffs and it paid off...of course won't have this particular option available next year
