Default Lets talk about fire pit ashes

Ok same house - but the dip####s who lived here prior filled up a garbage bin full of black dirt and ashes.

Are the ashes/dirt ok to spread out in flower beds? Are they a decent fertilizer?

I should also mention that by flower bed, I mean directly onto the back lawn and by lawn I mean the dirt and weed area where a lawn should be.

Thanks again CP.

I saw the two thread titles and was really hoping you just burned all your garbage and this was the follow-up question.

Leaving disappointed.

Well I've composted ash before, and its 'OK'. Its not great, but can work, so I don't know if that's quite the answer you're after or not.

Between both your threads I think you have a dump run in the near future.

I agree, I just do not have anything to put the tiles in. So I was hoping that I could spread out the dirt/ashes then us that bin to put the tiles in. Perhaps this could be one thread entitled: A Quandary filled Wednesday with Surferguy.

Apparently you can compost ash. It might make the compost alkaline. I would say you could sprinkle some around the yard but dumping two garbage cans worth might hinder growth.

I would totally spread it all over my massive dirt patch where my lawn should be. If you lay it out thin enough, I doubt it would impact soil pH significantly- unless your lawn is 8 square meters. Judging by CP average salary, I think you should be fine.

And....if you want to grow tomatoes...

"Consider adding your urine to the wood ash...... human urine mixed with wood ash led to substantial improvements in the amount of tomatoes that were produced."
