Default Attention United Kingdom Citizens

Have any of you, that hold UK citizenship, ever gotten passports for you Canadian born kids.

Was it difficult?

Was there an online source?

I was born in the UK, and I understand my kids can get their UK passports.

My dad was born in England and got me a UK passport. It's pretty simple I think. Honestly, HM Passport Office is a pretty easy website to navigate. I just went through the whole process of renewing mine and had no issues.

Is that for the fact that Americans are attractive hostages internationally or because of their taxation claims to all income regardless of the country worked in?

You should be able to since you were born in the UK.

It's easy if the kids were born after 1983 (i think that's the year), I just had to fill out an application, get the picture done (different dimensions from canadian passports fyi). My mom didn't have her passport either and applied at same time. It was very simple.

Kids born before 1983 is more complicated.
My 2 oldest brothers have done half of it, they had to apply for citizenship first, and then the passport. For some weird reason they didn't follow up with the passport part...

Out of curiosity ... what is/are the benefits of a UK passport?

I was born in the UK, but only hold a Canadian passport. Never bothered to ever apply for a UK one. Maybe I should?

You can work/live anywhere in the EU without needing a visa.

my partner is Canadian but holds both passports because of her Dad - it helped her immensely using the British passport to travel around the EU.

Walk right thru most border controls for example...and there's the option of living and working in europe too. From what i know if you're a citizen of the UK for example, you can then work in any other EU country too.

Because even if your kids were born in Canada and live/ work their entire life in Canada, the IRS has insisted that it has the right to their personal and financial information and the Canadian banks have relented.

Yeah, we pretty much already go through that with my wife. They like to keep tabs on everything.

Which is why I want to get them.

I reckon I would be negligent if I didn't.
