Took this idea from the development camp thread but thought it could use its own thread since that one will turn into what is happening at development camp.
I am most excited about jankowski due to all the drama last year and the fact that he has an awesome attitude. (Flames seem to be gravitating towards the good attitude these days)
Also I like to cheer for a good underdog.
Honorable mention for kanzig to see if he can actually do anything or is he just big. Also excited to see klimchuks one timer and poiriers speed.
Can also add which prospect you aren't that excited about:
Mine might be Gilmour, seems a bit like a throw in / lazy pick.
I find Bill Arnold to be interesting. He often seems overlooked, but he quietly puts up good numbers, has NHL size and is apparently a good 2-way player.
I think Baertschi is still the one that I have the most hope for though.

Jankowski because he has the most potential to surprise and break out anytime.
Obstacles he had to go through:
1) Went from gaudreau size (5'8) to 6'2-1/2 in his draft year.
2) Drafted him as super lanky, less than 170 pounds.
3) High expectations, from feasters comments and from the flames faithful after being spoiled by talents such as baertschi and gaudreau.
4) One of the youngest if not the youngest player in his draft. Only 1 month older than Monahan.
5) Skill level. He was making the jump from high school to NCAA hockey.
Progressions he's made:
Put up some reasonable points 0.50 per game while both adapting to his frame and learning how to utilize it. In one year, he has now grown to 6'3 and managed to hit the gym hard and put on 20 pounds, with a current total weight of 190 pounds.
Why I'm Excited:
He will have some off time now to continue hitting the gym before NCAA starts again. Hopefully he will continue his growth not only in size but in stats as well. This year he is starting the season with a much more developed body. Jankowski, just like gaudreau are both boom or bust prospects and since now Jankowski has built a stronger foundation for himself to succeed, hopefully we can see something amazing coming out of him this season.
HM:
Baertschi for his calder run
Monahan to see what he is all about & Canada world Jr (If not with the flames).
Gilles should have a break out year and hype as starter for USA world Jr.
Poirier for his insane speed & Canada world Jr.
Klimchuk to see what he is all about, and how much like eberle he truly is
Ramo, Bera, Ortio goaltending dual
Etc.. etc...

He went from gaudreau size (5'8) to 6'2-1/2 in his draft year. Drafted him as super skinny, less than 170 pounds. In one year he gained 20 pounds, and leaped from high school level to NCAA. Currently the kid stands at 6'3 and currently weights 190 pounds. He will have some off time now to continue hitting the gym before NCAA starts again, and we will see if he can prove to be a better player come next season. Jankowski is the definition along with gaudreau of a boom or bust player and is so raw that I hope we see something amazing out of him this season.

Without question Gaudreau has to be the flames' most exciting prospect. I don't pretend I'm an NHL scout or anything but all of the videos I have seen of Gaudreau show unbelievable skill. He has the most offensive skill of any player drafted by the flames in a very long time.
It's also encouraging that he seems to step up his play in big games. Winning frozen four, beanpot and winning gold at WJC are all very good signs. It also seems like he is excelling at playing agaisnt big players in the NCAA. It looks like he should be able to adapt to the NHL considering the succses he has had so far.

Excited? Has to be Baertschi and Monahan. These are our highest end prospects and they are NHL ready (or close).
Intrigued?
Harrison. Nobody knows who this kid is.
Kanzig. The Flames haven't been fooled by size recently. So what else caused them to go off the board for this guy?
Jankowski. How will he fair against a higher end group of prospects now that he has had a season if real development?
Knight. Many are putting him in our top 5 of prospects. How does he hold up?
Arnold. This guy had quietly been putting up big numbers playing second to hype machine and team mate Gaudreau. How does he look next to players like Monahan and Knight?
Poirier. Other then the stars probably the guy who will get the most attention at this camp. Why did the Flames pass up on big prospects like Shin for him?
Other story lines include:
The shape that Howse and Ferland show up in and how that impacts their play.
It is tough to judge goalies in camp, but I am very curious to see how these goalies stack up against each other. Gilles vs Brossoit. Ortio vs Berra. Fun
I could go on. Lots of Intrigue this camp.

I'm most excited for Monahan. Any kid that draws resemblances to Toews, instantly moves to #1 on my list.
Nervous for Jankowski. It was a reach last year for Feaster to draft him that high. I'm hoping after this prospect camp that opinions on him are far higher, and that people are praising Feaster.
if i had to just pick 2 prospects that i wish i could peak into the future by 5 years to see how they progressed it would have to be Gaudreau and Jankowski.
They both have such high boom or bust potential, but the upside, if met, could really alter the entire make up of the franchise.
(the others on my list i feel will be players in the NHL in some capacity)
I think Monahan is the best bet based on the combination of potential (ceiling) and likelihood of making the NHL.
Has to be Monahan as he's the only guy in the system with franchise player potential. I like Sven but I see him with a ceiling of a Loui Eriksson type of player that is very skilled but not a franchise player or perennial all-star. Still exciting potential but he's not the replacement for Iginla IMO.

I was going to say the same thing. It would validate the scouting staff if he has a monster year.
I'm most interested in Jankowski and Poirier as both were 'off the board' picks and I'm curious to see if either/both/neither were good/justified picks by Feaster and co.

I have seen this mentioned a few times over the past two weeks, but have not seen anything by way of real, firm confirmation. 20 lbs in less than a year seems like a lot to me; is there somewhere reputable where this has been reported?
