Good luck Nathan in your search for the big payday. May it please not be with the Flames.

According to the article he wants $6 Mil per on a long term deal. With concussion and shoulder problems in his past, no thanks at that price/term.

The only teams that ever benefit from signing the big ticket free agents are those already built to win the cup and just need a bit of a boost. Every team that I can remember who have spent big money on UFA's to build their team around have always failed hard. Feaster shouldn't even be picking up the phone for Horton

I could really see Feaster giving him a ridiculous contract under the guise of making the team tougher to play against. I imagine all the cap space the Flames have available is burning a huge hole in his pocket.
Same could be said of Bickell. I could see management throwing big contracts at both these guys.

Well I guess the Flames are only one of a handful of teams that would be able to give him that. I would give him a one year 6.5 and flip him at the deadline.

Given his injury history, I think Horton is going to want a very long term deal, or at least his agent will be pushing for one.
He fills a need for Calgary, but just him coming at $6 mil/year is a pricey way to fill a position.

While I don't see Horton signing here, I'm quite confident Feaster and co. will offer him a big money, long term contract.
Big, 27 year old right handed winger? Will be shocked if the Flames don't go after him.

I hope we don't do this. I really don't think he is worth 6 million per. The injury history is just too much of a risk. I wouldn't mind seeing a year or 2 contract maybe at 5 million and see how that goes!

Sad to see him leaving Boston. 6 mil is a lot for him, but he's a fantastic playoff performer.

guy has the heart of a lion and a head full of cobwebs.
It is really unfortunate that a guy that puts as ses in the seats is prone to be the next Marc Savard every time he steps on the ice....or any player that paid the price in the past for that matter.
Horton's style reminds me greatly of Gary Roberts style of committed, heart and soul ...guts and glory ....and there aren't many left in the league nowadays that play that way.
Years ago I had a hard on for Horton on the Flames ...not anymore.

The Flames should offer him a 5 year $6M per contract. Why?
1) The Flames can afford it and it doesn't disrupt them cap-wise.
2) It shelters the top players that the Flames will pick through the draft.
3) This is where the Oilers have gone wrong as their top picks are exposed and put under too much pressure, too quick.
