Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie 28s Hockey Canada will announce tomorrow that Brent Sutter has agreed to be head coach of Canada's national junior team for 2014.

Bob McKenzie ‏@TSNBobMcKenzie now It's expected Sutter's assistants are likely to be Ryan McGill and Benoit Groulx. Former NHL scout Ryan Jankowski will be the chief scout.

Gawd I hope Jankowski plays well enough to get a center spot on the team.

This is where Brent shines as a coach. Glad to see they brought him back.

That is Mark's uncle.

given his past success at the WJCs, I say let him coach the team in perpetuity.

Good. Winning with the dream team wasn't that surprising, but coaching the team the year after to an undefeated gold medal win showed just how good of a coach he is for junior players.

of the 2013 prospects, not unfathomable that the Flames get 3 of them

wouldn't be surprised if the Flames three 1st rounders, whoever they are, play at the WJC

Agreed, and I also wonder if Kulak will get a shot at making the team.

Mark might have a better chance with his uncle as the head scout, but my guess is he'd have to play at least at 0.8 points per game to be on the team's radar

He'll have to have a good year for sure, but the summer camp will be the important thing. I would think that he is enough on the radar to get an invite. And with his size and two-way game, I think he has a very good chance.

I know Gillies is a strong contender to be USA's starter, is Sieloff still elligible?

yes, and is a virtual lock as he will likely be the only returning defenseman

both were invited to the USA summer evaluation camp. My cynicism of coach Lucia and his pro-NCAA stance makes me wonder how much of a lock Sieloff will be

I thought Ryan Jankowski was working for an NHL team after he left the Islanders. I would love the Flames to bring him into the organization. I think he did wonders on the Islanders, considering they apparently have a very small scouting staff.

Brent has a good track record with juniors, that's for sure. Could choice there I think.

Mark Jankowski should get an invite to the summer camp. Considering that 2 of the top centers this year for Canada may be playing in the NHL, would be smart for Canada to bring in Jankowski at least as a backup and see how things turn out. From what I have been reading, Monahan is likely to be playing in the NHL next season (though not a 'guarantee'). MacKinnon will be playing in the NHL. Leaves Canada with Horvat, Domi, McDavid (I think he will make the team) and who knows whom else. Jankowski will add size and skill (something a guy like Gauthier wouldn't really bring). Hopefully he gets a crack at it at least. I doubt they would want any 17 year old players (as is usually the case).
