Sources confirm a long-term agreement is imminent between the Blues and D-man Kevin Shattenkirk.
I’m told to expect his contract to pay him north of $4 million over the next four seasons totaling around $17 million.

Seems about right. Should be interesting now what they pony up for Pietrangelo.

Good signing. I take it Pietrangelo is next. I think Stewart will be the odd man out.

Josi and Voynov set the market. Shattenkirk has better numbers and is more established. Good deal for team and player

Great deal for St. Louis, that EJ trade has worked out well for them so far even if Stewart is gone.

Pieterangelo should get 6M+. He's already one of the best d in the league and is so young. Great job by them locking up Shattenkirk. They have a solid d core for awhile. They need star forwards now. Oshie, Berglund, Perron, Backes etc are good but they don't have that star player.

Hey Oilfan! What's the status of those two trades that were going to be announced buoy the Oilers after the finals? Any news or did they fall through?

Do we really need someone harassing Oilfan after every post he makes regarding the rumored Oilers trades? When they happen, they happen. It's been two days since the finals ended; and I heard the rumors in Edmonton as well that they were coming. We really don't need to prod him after every post he makes.

I have to agree though that the Blues need that one star player/franchise guy to become a true contender for the Cup. I don't think anyone in their lineup currently fits the bill, unless Tarasenko takes a huge step forward. The only problem is can they fit in a 7-8 million dollar star player with their budget, while still keeping most of their other great talent?

Great contract signing for the Blues- good numbers and term. After all is said and done, St.Louis is gonna have a very expensive defensive core: Shattenkirk, J-Bo, Pietrangelo.

Good value. The Blues remind me a bit of the LA Kings a few years ago when many thought they were on the verge of becoming a contender. They need to bring in their own version of Richards/Carter to finish the puzzle
