Default Mobile Credit Card Processors

Does anyone have any experience dealing with these?

The two I am looking at are PayPal:
https://www.paypal.com/ca/webapps/mp...it-card-reader

and Intuit:
http://shop.gopayment.ca/credit-card...cessing_tier1a

I haven't read all the fine print yet. Just wondering if anyone has any insight/pros/cons on these or similar devices.

Not personally, but a friend signed up with Square a couple of months ago https://squareup.com/ca/register
and she is very happy with it. I guess it depends on what your business is and the volume. It doesn't do debit or amex, just visa and MasterCard. Her business is selling crafts online and at festivals like Lilacfest so not steady, she does the 2.75% per swipe.

I looked at it and for my business no debit was a deal breaker, and Moneris was still cheaper overall.

Have heard good things about square as well, but don't use it myself. 2.75%/swipe is a good deal because I don't believe there are any monthly or hidden fees to worry about. 2.75% flat. Pretty sure this works out to be better than my current merchant account.

We looked into this stuff a while back, but the people in charge of the project must have severe ADD or something because I never could get them to respond to an email while I did a bunch of legwork.

So to summarize, I have no idea, but all of those products looked really good when I was looking into the idea.

Square is the best thing ever!!! I've been on it for 7 months now. Nothing in Canada even comes close.

We find the biggest problem is educating your employees on how to use it, and then having them educate the customers on why swiping their credit card on a mobile device isn't a scam.

I've put through over 500+ transaction and not once did anyone refuse to give me their card. Most people think it's super cool.

The only drawback is that sometimes when i get a beat up or damaged Visa/Mastercard it takes a few swipes to get it to work. That kinda looks fishy! haha

Also the receipt that you text/email them they get within 30 seconds to a minute.

They charge 3.5% + 15 cents if you enter the card manually.

Mobility is a huge factor, as are the low fees.

I'm doing this research for 2 separate people. One is on behalf of a non profit organization. They want it for on location membership sales at events.

We looked into a wireless pos system. This is what it cost:
$300 one time activation fee
$75 one time terminal fee
$80/month for the terminal (we needed it for 2 months)
-------
At $535, they would have had to sell 27 memberships at $20 just to break even.
With one of these mobile swipers though, even at 3.5%, the cost is significantly less.

Square is good because anyone can sign up for it. I got my cousin to sign up for it for our keeper pool. Now no one has an excuse not to pay right away.
