Icon38 Bryzgalov will not be bought out by the flyers

According to nick kypreos on twitter.
I was under the impression that buyout were imminent Brier and Bryzgalov. But, apparently not?

Reports apparently being shot down by Paul Holmgren:

“@AnthonyMingioni: Holmgren denies Bryzgalov no buyout assurance, per @tpanotchCSN. #Flyers”

So are the Flyers just going to spend over the cap?

Feaster needs to be all over situations like this. Take on bad contracts along with good draft picks for the pleasure.

I think fans are seriously over estimating the willingness to cut enormous buy out cheques.

My guess is that there will be a trade for Bryz. Who does it is beyond me. Wait a second.....Coyotes will be looking for a goalie. And Bryz was stellar with Sean Burke as his goalie coach.

Josh Rimer ‏@JoshRimerHockey 27s So Ritch Winter says Homer told him they're not buying out Bryz, but Homer said that he never said that? Who's lying? Guess we'll find out

Feels like the Jeff Carter situation all over again.

Yeah, no matter how rich you are 36 million is a lot of cake, you simply don't get that wealthy throwing away millions of dollars.

For Holmgren to keep his job after a buyout like that he would have to have activity pictures of Snider and Luukko.

Maybe the flyers can offer up a first round pick for a good goalie, like perhaps Bobrovsky.... philly is truly the place where goalies go to die.... last goalie they had was Hextall...

One could argue that the money was thrown away the minute the Flyers signed Bryzgalov to that ridiculous contract. If they buy him out, at least they get a third of the money back (and they don't have to carry a useless goalie on the roster).

Btw, I have been trying to figure out how the Flyers can manage to be $7.8 million over the cap when teams can only go $6.4m over during the off season. If it were the Leafs, it would be easy to understand — they'd just pay one of their players in Canadian Tire money. What's the Pennsylvania equivalent?

It's not the 2013-14 season yet. By the time the salary cap goes down, the flyers' UFAs come off the books.

I don't see Snider doing this. He'll just buy him out and keep more toys in Holmgren's toy chest.

The Flyers still have LTIR room this season. Technically Streit isn't signed beyond this season.

No way the Flames owners are taking on a 30+ million liability just to get a draft pick or two. The Flyers could throw in Bryz and a couple of 1sts for a bag of pucks and I doubt Feaster could get it approved.

Its the trap of the 'Mega Contract.'

First of all, Snider cant complain because he basically forced Holmgren to make this happen, the fact that it was a terrible idea is entirely on him.

That Bobrovsky trade must feel like a field-goal kicker's smack to the nuts.

Good. The Flyers made that bed, now lie in it. Holmgrem is the D. Sutter of the East, Looking to make a splash every summer. I never had anything against the Flyers until last summer. That ridiculous, pre-lockout Weber contract. Then that stupid Streit contract. Trading away Bobrovsky, and now this drama with Bryzgalov. God I'd love to just watch the Flyers spiral downwards and stay there.

The Flames aren't going to take advantage of teams that are richer than them, and the really poor teams (NYI, Tampa) will probably be taken advantage of by teams that are richer than the Flames, like the Leafs. Feaster's talk of taking advantage of teams in this position will probably lead to nothing, or maybe a minor move.

The days of the Flames being poor are gone, but no chance they can afford this contract. There are probably ~10 teams in the league that can outspend the Flames, and some teams that can spend 4x as much as them, and then there are the Leafs that probably made 100 million in operating income this year. Bryz, Dipietro, Vinny etc are just all out of the question for us

Yeah, I just meant in general sorry, situations like this, not actually this Bryzgalov contract.

The flyers organization appears to have a fundamental problem evaluating goaltending.

Bob would not have been the same goalie even as the starter in Philly this year that he was in Columbus.
