Default Mayor of Montreal Arrested for Fraud

No one interested in this? Guess it's not news because he isn't a big, fat, sweaty guy...

Quote:
Applebaum faces 14 criminal charges, including fraud against the government, breach of trust, conspiracy and municipal corruption, the provincial anti-corruption unit UPAC announced.
Lisée said city council should select an interim mayor to serve until the next municipal election, in November.

Yup. Gerald Tremblay was arrested on corruption charges.

Must be something in the water.

The difference between this case and the other one is the fact that the fat sweaty guy hasn't been arrested yet.

He was never arrested. He resigned amid corruption allegations, but he was never actually charged with anything.

Applebaum was his interim replacement until the next municipal election.

The more corruption that is weeded out by the Charbonneau commission, the better off Quebec will be going forward. Hopefully, this sends a message to whomever replaces the outed politicians.

Montreal uses political parties, and Tremblay and Applebaum were both in the same party, perhaps with the same dealings.

We could eliminate several threads by combining all those about stupid politicians arrested, charged and accused of criminal activities into one all-encompassing thread. Here is the latest.

Corrupt in Montreal and a crack smoking buffoon in Toronto.

Yeah, I have to give praise to the Charbonneau commission. It's been long thought that Quebec politicians are corrupt and it's good to see them trying to clean up the mess. The thing is I don't trust a lot of the politicians out west either.
