I've got a Mazda protege and it needs new tires. I went to the Mazda dealership last time and ir cost me over 400 bucks for 2 tires. Anyone got a good place to go for less moola? As I understand it, my car has a lower profile than the average but I can't remember what it is.

I have nothing but good things to say about Fountain Tire.
Most tires aren't warranteed against sidewall damage, but I made a stupid-ass mistake and clicked a curb, ruining my cheap tire.
They replaced it, no questions asked - even though it was clearly sidewall damage and entirely my fault.

Try Costco. They might have to order the low-pros you'll need, but the service and guarantee is great. And you can't beat the price, in most cases.

I always order online, it works great and the prices (v. quality) are incrediable.

www.tiretrends.com - Based out of Vancouver, I have used them many times, takes as little as 36hrs to get to Calgary and the prices were always low. With the higher CDN dollar prices seem higher relative to America's tirerack. The guys are SUPER helpful if you need assitance or advice (At a 1-800 number).

www.tirerack.com - Used to seem expensive but with the dollar at ~83c there are great bargins, especially on sportier tires and things already on sale/clearence.

Walmart does it super cheap, most places do it resonably cheap.

I had a friend who was a tech and he did it for me for the longest time for free, but last time i went to the Honda dealer and it was suprisingly affordable. Exactly the same as getting winter tires (which i also buy from them) mounted.

Also, no $5/tire Alberta tire tax is charged.
