WTB- Unlocked iPhone or Android phone

I am looking at doing some travel into the US, and would like to be able to use an unlocked phone while I am down there. I would prefer an iPhone 4s or 4, but would also consider an Android phone as well.

Price would obviously depend on the model and condition of the phone.

Not to question your motives, but wouldn't it make more sense to just unlock your current phone?

I think we paid $50 to unlock my wife's iPhone on Rogers, and you can do it as long as the phone has been on the account for a certain amount of time (I think 9 months). I know Bell has a similar option, but the cost is higher (~ $80).

I appreciate the suggestion. Bell requires you terminate your contract; so you have to pay the early termination fee. Trust me, I have been down this road.... been told the conflicting stories and just spoke to somebody in the escalation department today.

Yes, I would rather unlock my own phone and not have to deal with carrying two devices. Part of the reason for the preference for the iPhone is at least a lot of my stuff would sync across. Other than that- as we all know there are no real differences between Android and iOS.
