Pedobear defects to Iran

Why anyone would ever want to have diplomatic relations with that countries government is beyond me.
I was sitting there working out today and asking myself, "What could I read that would really creep me out today"
"State sponsored child rape, that'll do it"

Perhaps that explains the NDP support of Iran?

You're supposed to be open minded and respectful and all that but, you know, some cultures aren't worth preserving and need to be surpassed.

What blows me away even more is that there are grops in Canada who would like to adopt Shariah law.

You do realize that it's probable the majority of Iranians DON'T support the move, right?

That would probably not be true given the number of child brides in the country. Feel free to support your claim though.
Secondly, I phrased my response around "cultures" and not "Iranians." IE: cultural attitudes that support the practice, which are not confined to Iran.
National Geographic about a year ago had an article highlighting the common practice of child brides through multiple countries.

Perhaps read what Cowperson wrote before you jump on him. Not to put words in his mouth, but he said that if a culture thinks 9 is old enough, perhaps that culture is not worth keeping around. Not Iranians, not anything, just cultures in general.

Cultures are what people identify with. To those people, their culture is them. If you want to take away their culture, you are going to have to fight them for it. You can't, though. It's sad, yes, but there is nothing the west can do. To some, scripture and religion is everything.
Unfortunately, this is a case of diplomacy. Anything more, and you are doing something worse than they are.

Yes because being against old guys marrying and f$$king 9 year olds while a government is trying to make it legal is the height of ignorance.
If that's the case then I stand firmly on the side of the ignorant.

I have to ask if the marriages are the same as north american marriages and whether sexual relations are occurring. It is entirely possible that it is a sickening practice, it is also possible that the practice itself is being intentionally misinterpreted by the media (which given some of the sources you provided wouldn't shock me a great deal).

Considering that in the strictest sense of their scripture that wives are obligated to service their husbands in all ways including sexually. Also in Islam marital sex is the only accepted sex, its part of any marriage contract.

Considering what we know about how women and girls are treated in these countries and cultures that might be a pretty silly question.
I guess if you really want to bend over backwards to be fair, fine, perhaps a further clarification could be warranted, but I believe the question to be horribly naive.
