Default Potential GM Candidates

Thinking about who might be available with the inevitable firing(s) that will come once teams crash out of the playoffs. Here's a list to start:

John Ferguson Jr - scout for SJ and probably more mature/ready than his term in T.O. where he was caught in a political minefield

Ron Hextall - AGM for Kings, seems to be highly thought of

Steve Tambellini - seemed to do well as AGM in Vancouver but couldn't escape Lowe's shadow in Edm

Scott Howson - CLB started to turn it around this year as a result if moves he made

Francois Giguere - Lacroix has his hands all over the Avalanche, might do better if he has more autonomy

Paul Fenton - AGM for Preds, see Ron Hextall

Dave Taylor - was rumored to be candidate for Columbus job after Howson was axed

Pierre Gauthier - would any team take a chance on him after his tenure with Habs?

Brian Burke - chomping at the bit but can he play nice with others?

Claude Loiselle - doing a good job with Leafs

Rick Dudley - is he better suited in player personnel/scouting than GM role

Jim Schoenfeld - seems to be running the show in NYR without the title

David Conte - Nill finally left Detroit, could Conte leave NJ?

Don Waddell - scouting for Pens, very mediocre record with Thrashers

Doug MacLean - wants back in but would a team take a chance on him?

Anyone else people can think of?

Pretty sure Doug MacLean will never work as a GM again.

Was gonna say....

Only way he'd ever get a job GM'ing again is if Mike Milbury was the only other candidate....and even then the President/Owner would probably just flip a coin.

Burke is the most sought after executive available.

1: Burke
2: Fenton
3: Hextall

Schoenfeld would be interesting (the Gaborik trade was a great trade for both teams)but I don't think he takes a crap without Slats on Conference call.

He shouldn't even work as an analyst.

After Hextall and Fenton,
Lawrence Gilman and Ron Francis

Jason Botterill is another guy to keep an eye on. He has quickly moved up the management ladder

Fenton. In charge of drafting and development for a team that remained competitive for a long time with an internal budget and no money to sign free agents. He's exactly what this franchise needs.

The Flames should hire Joe Will to be their new GM.

I cant think of a single team that will fire their GM after losing a playoff series.

Is this list for the flames? If so, it is not going to happen, at least not this year. I think Feaster is incompetent, but even i realise he is not being fired this summer.

For now i have to hope i am dead wrong about Feaster and that he can do a good job going forward. This draft is going to be huge and he better not screw it up.

This could be the post of the year [CP MODS - please note my vote]. This is exactly my thought after we started this season with supposedly 12 centres (that certainly made Jokinen obselete) only to find out none of them were. Haven't thought the same way about Weisbrod since.
