Not sure why the flames would want either as a " special advisor"? When i think "special advisor" i think of older guys with a lot of hockey management background like Cliff Fletcher or Scotty Bowman. If either is being considered it would be more of a PR move.
As for " special advisor" what does Conroy actualy do? As far as i can tell he has been given a "special title" for part time scout. I could be wrong about Conroy's title.

I don't think his role is well understood - but he certainly is neither part-time nor a scout. He spent the entire season this year with the team.
Anyways adding more smart people to the organization is never a bad thing - tough to judge this until we have an idea of what type of person they are looking at.

I think it will be a good move if Ken King is moved to manage just the business and have a separate group of hockey people manages the hockey side of things.
I don't think too many ex-hockey players excels in business and vice-versa. Let the people do the job they are good at.
